Growing beyond Interpersonal and Intergenerational Trauma

I specialize in Complex and Developmental Trauma.

Through a trauma-informed, sensorimotor, and relational therapy lens, I support my clients’ exploration of the lasting effects of long-term environmental failure.

From socio-economic and political systems to family micro-systems, nothing in the world was absolutely perfect as we grew and developed, as we attached and became autonomous, in relation to those around us.

The impacts of environmental failure land on us all, and we still feel very alone. Your experience is unique. Working alongside you, I want you to know that I deeply respect your strength and wisdom, every ounce of courage it has taken to bring you where you are today.

You do not have to do this work alone.

Some long-term difficulties include:

  • loss of a loved one

  • partner abuse

  • caregiver neglect or harm

  • religious experience

  • substance abuse

  • natural disaster

  • socio-political system burden

  • intergenerational patterns

Trauma impacts us internally, affecting our thoughts, emotions, and our physical sensations — how our sensory systems experience the world. It also impacts us externally, as noticed in our outward confidence and ability to form secure, trusting, and loving relationships.

Together, we can work toward unraveling the effects of trauma.

If you’d like to explore how your history impacts you, and create a new path forward, let’s connect.

Trauma is a psychic wound that interferes with your ability to grow and develop. Trauma is not what happens to you, it’s what happens inside you as a result of what happened to you.

Professional Training

NARM   NeuroAffective Relational Model

I studied with the NARM Institute for a comprehensive methodology, specifically designed to help a client work through the process of healing from Complex and Developmental Trauma. I feel extremely fortunate to have studied with Dr. Lawrence Heller, the developer of NARM, for all of the NARM Masters and Post-Masters modules. I am also grateful to have served in a Training Assistant role, working with participants, globally. The TA Active Coaching space allowed me to deepen my understanding of the foundational principles, while directly experiencing and witnessing the profound healing that becomes possible while working within this framework.

EMDR   Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization

I have also completed training in EMDR methodology, in order to work with clients who wish to address, reprocess, and desensitize specific traumatic events in their lives.

Every aspect of you is welcome here.

If you identify with any of the feelings here, or if you’d simply like to meet with someone, in a safe space, and wonder, or maybe laugh, cry, share, trust, protest, or simply grow as humans together, I invite you to reach out. I would be so glad to meet you.

What would you like for yourself?

My clients have experienced impactful change in the following areas.

  • Life Balance

Boundaries, perfectionism, over-scheduling, difficulty delegating. The To-Do list is long, and there is overwhelming and never-ending pressure. Do you consistently choose something or someone else over yourself, over your well-being? What are you giving up, in order to get it all done? Let’s discover patterns that may be blocking the sense of inner peace you’re seeking.

  • Feeling Present

Self-Pressure, imposter syndrome, intrusive thoughts, constant calibration, the feeling that your mind is always racing. You can’t enjoy a simple conversation or a relaxing vacation. Maybe this even interrupts your sleep, because your thoughts and worries won’t let you rest. Let’s explore what is getting in the way of the connection and the calm you would like to have.

  • Authentic Expression

Pride, shame, guilt, anger, anxiety, depression. Sometimes these feelings get so big, they override who we know ourselves to be. You may feel that life could be so different if you weren’t constantly operating out of pain, grief, or fear. Let’s uncover old strategies that impede your desire to be true to yourself, to just be.

  • Life Transitions

Clearly, the heart stirs when changes are in order. The mind responds with a plan of action. Maybe this time the strategies or habits of the past are not providing what you need. As you look toward making a shift, let’s explore: How would you like to approach this newness, instead?

  • Relationship Issues

Trust, difficulty with vulnerability, co-dependence, struggle with intimacy. If there are specific issues coming up in some of your relationships, we can look into what you’d like to be different, and what seems to be blocking the intimacy or connection you would like.

  • Identity & Self-Expression

Maybe you’ve been wondering about how you prefer to express yourself. How would your truest self like to navigate the world? If you have new questions, or a history of curiosity regarding your feelings about any aspect of your identity, let’s explore your heart’s desire in this arena.

  • Teenage Life

During this most amazing phase of human development, there are specific difficulties, challenges, valid concerns, and curiosities that arise. There are also opportunities for tremendous growth and connection, for both the teen and the parent. Working together, we can explore how to navigate this road to adulthood.

  • University Life

Launching out on your own, you’re discovering the freedom of implementing your own values. Maybe you’re curious about post-graduate life. When the shift to independent living raises new questions or perspectives that may differ from your support system, let’s explore your innermost intent for yourself.

  • Parenting

Regardless of the age of your child(ren), there is a significant need for support at each developmental stage in your family. If you have a child with a neurodivergent sparkle, you may be searching for a compassionate, patient, experienced, listening ear. Let’s find a time to connect and support your parenting needs.
